Day 7: Silence

My music teacher once asked the class what made us different, or any better than computers that play whole arrangements perfectly. He told us that our imperfection is what makes us sound more natural. The spaces we leave between the notes, the pause, the breath in between do-re-mi. Our silence manifests our inner most being. Musically, there is more being said between the notes -- than the notes itself. This is the silence of a broken heart. Pain hits you down to the ground, and the many words once residing in your tongue have become few. The voices fade away, and nothing seems to matter. Just then, you strum the next note in that beautiful harmonic minor scale. Understand your silence, understand the beating of your heart -- and then move on. Your symphony won’t finish unless you finish it. With every silence, find peace - with every note, find harmony.
