Day 35: Worthy

Joan of Arc was a mere farmer’s daughter hailing from a simple village in northeastern France. She believed she was chosen by God to lead France’s army to victory against the English during the Hundred Years’ War. Illiterate, untrained in military arts, and against all odds, a 17 year old girl found herself in favor of the uncrowned King of France. After being wounded in battle, Joan finished her mission and won back Orléans for the French. That same year (1429), Charles VII was crowned King in Reims. Joan however was captured, and sold to the English where she was ultimtely charged with heresy. After surviving two years in military prison, she was executed; burned at the stake in front of a crowd of 10,000 people. Today, she is the patron saint of France. There are times in life when you will feel you are not worthy, when in fact; the exact oppossite is true. You are worthy of every act of kindness, every act of deliverance the divine has in store for you. To my dear friend; you were fearfully, and wonderfully made. Through all the pain life has brought you, through all the hardships you have endured -- in the name of all that is good, in the name of all that is right; you are worthy of love. Despite brutality, you will be free. Love will hold you near, love will set you free. You are worthy of love, you are worthy of all that you feel you do not deserve --you are worthy of it all. You are worthy of love. You are worthy of love.
